more random thoughts and stuff...
Been a while..
Well, it's been a while since I last posted a blog, so I thought that I would write some things up and catch up a bit.
Blogging, journaling and diaries...
One of the things that I dislike about blogs in general is that some people use them as a diary and many times share more information that might seem prudent, at least to me. I think that Blogging is a good thing, but hope that people realize that they are "public" (assuming they are set up that way).
Church stuff...
Because my new pastor has some weird working hours (He works full time outside of being our pastor, currently), I have the extreme privilege of presenting the message every Wednesday for church.
I had been afforded pulpit time for some time now by being allowed to teach on the third Wednesday of each month, so having this opportunity each and every week is quite an opportunity. Opportunity for me? I don't know. I do know that it allows me opportunity to share some messages that I believe are fresh and appropriate for our congregation (at least those that attend on Wednesday's).
My initial messages (once a month) was on "The Names of God", or "We can know God". A series on building relationship with God, and the fact that God has presneted Himself in ways that relate to us and so that we can have at least a level of understanding of him in a relationship. The other messages I have been teaching is based on two sayins that I commony use - "All Disciples are Christians, but not all Christians are Disciples", and the other half, or the rest of the story is "salvation is free, but discipleship costs everything"!
I may not be a very good "preacher", and my presentation style may need work, but I do the best I can for what I believe that God is giving me for a message.
I don't feel old...
In recent months, I found out my daughter is going to have another baby. Woohoo!! I get to be GrandboPreacher again! (Grandbo) I have spent some time thinking about this and realize that I dont' feel like a grandpa. I still get out and play paintball now and again and though I don't exercise as much as I want, Mary and I did get the bikes out I got for us earlier this year. so next spring, I think we will be making more attemot to get on tehm more often.
My point is that I just don't "feel old". :)
